What happens when you contact Dell? They say your warranty is out and you have to pay for a new one. Since then this $1200 laptop is utter garbage unless you use it for surfing the web. In WoW I get 15-20 FPS in a starting zone (Least taxing on PC) on "Good" settings." It used to run all games quite well, until I decided I wanted the laptop to be my own. I can roll back to the Dell Driver, or remove ALL video drivers and it will work, but the performance is terrible. It is one of the most annoying issues I have dealt with in my 15+ years of IT work. I can use the laptop as much as I want, but if I start a game, BOOM.
NVIDIA DISPLAY DRIVER FAILED TO INSTALL INSTALL
Except I can actually install any driver I want. I have had the same issue for quite a while now. Unsurprisingly you have not received a response from a Dell rep. (Also says something about Intel HD Graphics Family, why?) Nvidia Geforce GT525m Graphics Card - 1 GB DDR3 SDRAM So please fire away with advise, a fix would be amazing as I've been trying for ages!
So I'm actually out of ideas and this is becoming an problem because I use GPU heavy programs such as Autodesk 3DS Max, Revit and V-ray as part of my job, not to mention enjoy playing PC games every now and then.
I have also tried waiting for new updates, thinking maybe it was the specific update that had an issue, but no luck, ever update that comes out, Dell or Nvidia, seen to give the same disappointing result. In order to try fix the issue I updated my other hardware drivers, BIOS etc. Ok so whenever I try and update the graphics driver, be it from the Nvidia website, Geforce website or the Dell Support website (sites below) I get the same issue, "Nvidia Installer Failed". The laptop has an Nvidia Geforce GT525m graphics card and for some reason the graphics drivers just will not update! I'm still sitting with graphics drivers from 2011, the original drivers that came with the laptop! I brought my Dell XPS L502X about 3 years ago and have never been able to update my graphics card drivers, which as you can imagine, is extremely annoying.
